Karla Solรญs came to the rescue of a puppy that was shivering under a car on the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. The little creature was in a terrible state, with skin problems and hunger. His eyes were filled with pain and despair, which deeply moved Karla. She wasted no time in picking him up and taking him into her care to nurse him back to health. The puppy, whom she named Elliot, had to undergo several months of recovery, during which Karla worked tirelessly to earn his trust and mend his broken heart. Although he wasn’t hostile, Elliot seemed disinterested in life.
The sad look on the hairy man’s face was heart-wrenching, but Karla knew just what to do to lift his spirits. As she worked to nurse him back to health, a bond formed between the two that lasted long after he had healed from his tick-borne illness, Ehrlichia. Karla tended to his wounds and made sure he received his medication, all while she stood by his side during his recovery. But when the time came for him to move on, she knew it was time to find him a new family who could give him the love and care he deserved.
Solรญs got in touch with a dog adoption facilitator named Becky Moder, who assists families looking to adopt dogs in the US. Not only did Moder help Karla with all the paperwork required, but she also spent her own money to save the puppy. They were all optimistic that they would successfully find a suitable family for Elliot. Over time, Elliot’s hair grew back – starting with a fluffy layer and then becoming thick and crimson. Once Elliot was deemed healthy enough to search for his forever home, Moder offered him free transportation from Mexico to San Diego. Solis approved of this, and Elliot was sent off to the United States. He was accepted by The Barking Lot Rescue, which is located in El Cajon, Florida. It was at this shelter that Kim Forest and her partner met Elliot, and the couple decided to take him home with them.
Back then, the little pup was a far cry from what it eventually became after being rescued in Mexico. By the end of the day, Karla was overjoyed with the progress that the sweet Elliot – who was renamed Asher by his adoptive family – had made. Despite Karla and Becky’s desire to keep him, sometimes rescuers must say goodbye in order to continue their important work.
The women had a strong conviction when they gave away the furry little dog. This particular experience of rescuing the puppy from immense pain and suffering has inspired Karla to be more devoted to animal welfare. It’s hard for her to fathom how some folks can ignore this harsh reality, but she now realizes that there’s always more she can do to assist. According to Asher’s mother, he has become more outgoing and playful over time. Although he remains generally calm, he has demonstrated a livelier side that his family appreciates. One of his newfound interests is playing with stuffed animals, which he initially took a liking to by stealing his mother’s teddy bears. Now, he happily plays with any plush toys that don’t make noise. It’s become his favorite pastime.
Asher’s striking appearance and smooth red coat never fail to turn heads whenever he steps out of the house. His owners, Forrest and his spouse, love the attention their furry friend receives from strangers who are eager to compliment him. After all, Asher has had a tough life in his early years, so it brings them immense joy to see him appreciated. He truly deserves all the love and admiration he receives, and his presence fills their hearts with warmth and happiness.
