At a quick glance, or even from a distance, one might mistake this feline for a cute mouse or cuddly teddy bear…
Nonetheless, Pinna’s life is not entirely free from challenges, as you’ll discover upon learning her story. It revolves around a girl who cherished basking under the sun’s rays. When she was found on the streets at seven years old, she required immediate medical attention due to tissue necrosis on both of her ears. Instead of the once-fluffy and pink tips, Pinna’s head ended in charred black rags.
The gloomy feline had a tendency to be unfriendly, exhibiting hostility by hissing and scratching those who approached her. However, it wasn’t due to an inherent bad attitude; rather, the cat had been experiencing excruciating pain for several months.
The vets concluded that Pinna’s illness was caused by sunlight after conducting an examination. Sunburn had led to the development of cancer, which had progressed to the point where a portion of Pinna’s ear was barely attached. If only Pinna had known earlier, she would have sought shelter from the sun.
The veterinarians at Bradford Cat Watch Rescue Kittens had to perform a lengthy surgery for four hours to eliminate all the cancerous tissue caused by squamous cell carcinoma in a cat. The entire procedure and post-operative treatment cost the organization £900, which is equivalent to approximately 75.5 thousand rubles! The cat is now in her ten-day healing process and must receive special protection. Specifically, her ears require constant application of factor 50 sunscreen.
The volunteers are hopeful that someone will step up and adopt Pinna. She’s come a long way from being a sickly cat who hissed all the time. Now, she’s gentle, friendly, and loves nothing more than snuggling up to people. Cathy, who has been caring for Pinna, believes that the ideal home for her would be one where she stays indoors and away from direct sunlight. Even if she does go outside, she needs to have her ears protected with a special cream.
We are confident that this cat, who has been through a lot, will eventually find the perfect home with someone who will love and care for them.
