After being found near the campus in freezing conditions, the kitten has finally recovered and is now demanding attention. It seems like he’s no longer worried about his survival, and he’s ready to play!
Ginny, who helps care for animals and catches feral cats to have them spayed or neutered, received news of a kitten that required immediate attention recently. According to Ginny, employees at a nearby college cafeteria came across a small, injured kitten while discarding their trash. The kitty was in such bad shape that it hadn’t moved from its hideaway under the garbage. Subsequently, they notified Ginny, who found the kitten to be cold, malnourished, and unresponsive. “The little guy could barely keep his eyes open in the carrier, and his breathing was shallow,” Ginny said.
Ginny wasted no time in getting to work as soon as she saw the frail kitten. Her first priority was to bring his body temperature back to normal. To achieve this, she covered him with a warm blanket, placed a heating pad close to him, and knelt next to the heater. While doing this, she chatted with him to provide some comfort. Despite his delicate state, Ginny remained hopeful that the kitten would survive the night. She believed that even if he didn’t make it, at least he would have experienced love and warmth in his final moments.
As I looked at the tiny kitten in my arms, it reminded me of Wesley from The Princess Bride who also nearly faced death. So, I decided to name him after that fictional character and hoped that he would overcome his struggles just like his namesake. Ginny also tried to show some affection by gently petting him, and surprisingly, the kitten responded with a soft purr, which was barely audible.
As Ginny looked at the animal, he raised his head and made eye contact with her, something he had not done previously. She thought that he had finally acclimated and was ready to eat anything she offered him. Ginny decided to give him some food and to her surprise, he eagerly consumed it. That moment was a turning point for her, as she began to feel hopeful that the animal would survive.
As the night drew to a close, Wesley drifted off to sleep, feeling content and cozy amidst the presence of affection and nourishment. The following morning, he woke up with a noticeable improvement in his condition. Upon a visit to the veterinarian, it was revealed that Wesley was only seven weeks old and the reason behind his limp was determined.
According to the veterinarians, Wesley has sustained injuries on his seventh lumbar spine and one sacral vertebra. However, these injuries do not significantly affect his mobility and there are no plans to undergo any medical procedures to repair them. The only thing that needs to be done is to keep an eye on him and prevent him from becoming too active. Despite the doubts of the veterinarians about his ability to use a tray, Wesley was determined to explore his surroundings and learn how to use it. He quickly adapted to the tray and his appetite increased, resulting in him gaining weight. With constant petting from his foster mom, Wesley’s personality transformed in just a week. He became a complete sissy, purring loudly and seeking affection constantly. He has become more confident with people and is even being considered for adoption by one of the people who found him. Wesley loves the attention and affection from his foster mom, and clings to her every time she enters the room. He is happy to have a warm home, good food, and plenty of love.
