“The Purrfectly Picky Feline: Hilarious Tales of a Celebrity Cat and its Feline Fussiness as a Brand Ambassador”

Back in the 70s, Morris the cat was the face of 9Lives cat food packaging and commercials, way before the era of online memes. However, if you take a look at a hilarious calendar from 1986, it’s pretty clear that this witty and sassy feline would have fit right in with today’s Internet culture!

Morris the ginger cat is known as the most particular feline in the world due to his love for 9Lives cat food. Whenever offered other brands, Morris expresses his disapproval through witty off-screen remarks. Each can of 9Lives even bears Morrisโ€™s own “signature.” Interestingly, Morris was played by three different cats. The first Morris was discovered by animal trainer Bob Martwick at the Hinsdale Humane Society in Chicago in 1968. From 1969 to 1978, Morris appeared in 58 commercials for the Leo Burnett agency, where Martvik worked. Morris was voiced by John Ervin, and even received the prestigious PATSY Awards in 1972 and 1973. Most Morris performers were rescued from shelters or the streets. The current Morris resides in Los Angeles with his trainer Rose Ordyle. In 1994, Heinz, the owner of 9Lives, ended their partnership with Leo Burnett. Fans of Morris can enjoy a โ€œMorris the cat for our timeโ€ calendar that celebrates modern inventions.

It’s funny how things have changed – now it seems like we can never have enough hangers! But I guess that’s just a reflection of how much our lives have evolved over the years.
